"Become Earth, that you may grow flowers of many colors.  For you have been heart-breaking rock.
Once, for the sake of the experiment, be Earth!"  ~  Rumi

Great Plains Earth Institute is an environmental education program that seeks spiritually integrated solutions to ecological challenges through transformational experiences.

We offer workshops, guidance, discussion groups, retreats and resource material for all facets of connecting to and protecting Earth. At this time of environmental awareness we feel it is important to bring information together to simplify making changes in our daily lives. We have compiled a comprehensive site to aid in these decisions - from gardening to green construction and our personal connections to Earth and each other. Please browse all sections of our site and feel free to let us know of any information, hints or other sites that would be helpful. Thank you for visiting and may your journey be full and abundant with all that life has to offer.

Wisdom of the Elders

"There is a river flowing now very fast.  It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid.  They will try to hold on to the shore.  They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.  Know the river has its destination.  The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.  And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate.  At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally.  Least of all, ourselves.  For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.  The time of the lone wolf is over.  Gather yourselves!  Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.  All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.  We are the ones we have been waiting for."
Oraibi, AZ - Hopi Nation

"The first peace, which is most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all it's powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us."
